JLPT Speed Master N1 Vocabulary

JLPT Speed Master N1 Vocabulary starts with five rounds of warm-up review drills, then works through 66 thematic units covering everything from concrete topics like health, food, and sports through to abstract ones like evaluation, economics, and legal terminology. Later units shift to language mechanics: synonyms, antonyms, compound verbs, onomatopoeia, idioms, and kanji readings. There are eight practice tests and two full mock tests. Answers are in a separate booklet.

This book covers more N1 vocabulary than either Shin Kanzen Master or Nihongo Sou Matome. The explanations are minimal and the example sentences are short. If you want depth and nuance for individual words, Shin Kanzen Master N1 Vocabulary might be the better choice. If you want volume, this is the one.
