Shin Kanzen Master N1 Vocabulary covers 1,613 words with 945 practice questions across 184 pages, with a 24-page answer booklet. Part 1 organises vocabulary by topic and situation: personality, relationships, daily life, health, arts and sports, education, work, media, economics and industry, politics, law, and history, social issues, nature, technology, and abstract concepts like time and change. Part 2 organises by word type: words with multiple meanings, similar-meaning words, similar-looking words (both Sino-Japanese and Japanese-origin), adverbs, onomatopoeia, idiomatic expressions, and word formation including compound verbs, suffixes, and prefixes. Each lesson has basic practice to confirm meaning and usage, then exam-format practice. There are two mock tests at the end.
Opinions are split on this one. 945 practice questions is a lot of material, and the Part 2 coverage is strong: adverbs broken into three categories (degree/time/frequency, adverbs with fixed following expressions, and others), plus idiomatic expressions and compound verbs. But some learners find the density overwhelming and difficult to work through consistently. If you prefer a lighter format for vocabulary, So-matome covers less ground but is easier to get through.
