Nihongo So-matome N4 Kanji & Vocabulary covers around 200 kanji and 300 vocabulary words for the JLPT N4. It's structured as a six-week programme at two pages a day, with study material on one page and practice questions facing it. Kanji and vocabulary are grouped by theme, and each week ends with a test in JLPT format. Answers are in a separate 4-page booklet included with the book. There is no audio.
This is the multilingual edition (July 2023). English and Vietnamese translations are printed in the book. Portuguese, Indonesian, Nepali, Tagalog, Burmese, and Sinhala translations are available via QR codes.
This is one of two So-matome books for N4. The other covers grammar, reading, and listening. At around 200 kanji and 300 vocabulary words across six weeks, the coverage is light, and example sentences and usage explanations are minimal. It works well started a month or so before you finish your main textbook, like GENKI Vol. 2 or Minna no Nihongo II, as a way to spot weaknesses while there's still time to address them. For deeper kanji and vocabulary work, Shin Kanzen Master N4 covers more ground.
