JLPT Speed Master N3 Vocabulary covers over 2,000 words across 45 thematic units. Each unit fits on a two-page spread with 40 to 50 headwords, plus synonyms, antonyms, and related words introduced alongside them. Every unit has drills, with three longer review exercises spread through the book and two mock tests at the end. Example sentences have downloadable audio. Answers and example sentence translations are in a separate booklet. This is the audio download edition (December 2025), replacing the earlier CD version with the same content.
At over 2,000 words, this covers significantly more vocabulary than Sou Matome or Shin Kanzen Master's drill book, which both sit around 1,200. The thematic two-page spreads work similarly to Sou Matome, but you get broader coverage, audio for example sentences, and related words like synonyms and antonyms built into each unit. Shin Kanzen Master's separate Wordbook covers 1,800 words with reading passages and an app, but it's a learning book, not a drill book.
