JLPT Speed Master N5 Kanji for Beginners

JLPT Speed Master N5: Kanji is designed specifically for learners from non-kanji backgrounds. Covers 250 kanji terms through pattern-based learning and plenty of drills. Comes with reading practice voice files (download) and a kanji poster. Explanations in Japanese, with English and Vietnamese translations. This is the newest book in the N5 set, published in 2024.

Speed Master is the only major JLPT prep series that publishes a full set of individual N5 skill books. Shin Kanzen Master starts at N4, and Nihongo Sou Matome combines all N5 skills into a single volume. Every Speed Master book follows the same three-part structure: a warm-up section that teaches strategies and key concepts, a practice section with exam-style questions, and mock tests to check your readiness.
