JLPT Speed Master N4 Kanji

JLPT Speed Master N4 Kanji covers about 250 kanji and over 500 compounds through roughly 700 drill questions. Units are theme-based in two-page spreads. There are two ability tests at the end in exam format, plus an N5 kanji checklist for review. Each kanji comes with its core meaning in English.

This is the newest book in the N4 line (2022, while the other four volumes date from 2016). It focuses on recognition speed and accuracy rather than writing, which matches the JLPT multiple-choice format. Shin Kanzen Master N4 Kanji covers 278 kanji with both reading and writing practice across 15 lessons. Sou Matome covers about 200 kanji bundled with vocabulary in one volume on a daily schedule. If you want heavy recognition drilling, this is it. If you need writing practice, Shin Kanzen Master is the one that covers it.
